Et si j'étais ?...
Marie-Zénobie Harlay « Carte blanche » Childrens audience/ 2007
Once upon a time there was a little girl who wanted to be… a lot of things all at the same time! She thought if she was a snail she could learn funny words… words… without words! With a shell on her back!
She thought if she was a cat and mouse all at once she finally understand why they loved each other so much… And what if she was a flower? She would be admired for her colors. And the birds, the sea, the wind, she wondered, who are they really? One day, one thought and the dream comes true… And so begins the extraordinary voyage and the little girl leaps, cavorts and dances becoming one, then the other, unceasingly transforming becoming a swirling ballet. It was like… she was dancing with life.
Et si j’étais ?.. is a reflection formed following several years of teaching dance in the school environment. Conceived as a form of awakening to the language of dance and image, this performance offers a privileged moment of poetry capable of making a children’s audience understand their force as a capacity of expression.
The multiplication of characters directed and the choice of themes close to nature create a world in which the child recognizes himself. The large format video image invites the eye, playing with over-scaled and real sized dimensions to a creators regard. Liberally inspired by the universe of Claude Ponti, the dramatic impact of the piece, without a narrative aspect, expressed by a theatrical gestural give the keys of comprehension and allow a young spectator to project without difficulty into the proposed universe.
The intention of the piece, nourished by a pedagogic experience of the authors, invites the audience to look at the mediums of Dance and Image as an individual language opening a wider comprehension to the world from the youngest age.
On original experience to share between children… or with parents!
