L'Œuvre du 6e jour (The 6^th day’s work of art)
Choreographic creation elaborated in six days

This unusual and innovative system of creation is the result of an experimental work method used since 2001 by Gaetano Battezzato, assisted by Marie-Zénobie Harlay and working groups from various horizons, carrying diversity to the project.

Amateurs, hip hop or ballet dancers, actors, musicians, lighting designers…
All have lived out the adventure of a real creation, with the dare to bring to the audience, in a short time, the magic of an ephemeral act.

By placing the reactivity of the artist in the heart of the processes of the choreographic creation Gaetano Battezzato puts the accent on the idea that only the engagements of all of the “links in the chain” give strength and sense to the created work.

And so the Creator is the revelator of an already existing work, contained at the heart of an instant, born from an alchemist meeting between his sharp eye and the artist’s abandonment in his creativity.This system responds to the demand to give better visibility to the creative process and to inscribe the need to always “work in the present”.

To be in action.A very contemporary way to continue to defend the idea that creation is intimately linked to its process and the acceleration of time is not antonymic to creativity.

In six days, a new choreographic object is elaborated, born from an instant, mobilizing the resources and energy of each person present.  All the facets of creation are present; research, construction, refining, surprises, rehearsal, renunciation, planning, variables, preciseness, informalness. 

Each Œuvre du Sixième jour imposes it own individual progression, but the same tools are used: improvisation, composition, transposition, interpretation…
